Quick Overview

Bright, Honey-toned, Hint of Spice.

This coffee has a zesty, lively brightness, sweet-fruited notes and a hint of mild, sweet, chocolate-dipped nuts. The body is medium-to-light, which suits the spirited nature of this cup well. As it cools there are slight almond nutty roast tones that come out, a hint of apple and a lingering citrus snap to the cup.

Guatemala Huehuetenango 200 grams

Huehuetenango, in Guatemala's northeastern frontier is by far the most rugged and remote area in this lush, mountainous country. Coffee is cultivated in broken and very steep terrain, and thanks to the dry, hot winds that blow into the mountains from the Tehuantepec plain in Mexico, the region is protected from frost. This allows the coffee to be grown up to 6,500 feet (2000 meters).

Many of the coffee producers in Huehuetenango are Mam or Popti indigneous Mayans. The extreme remoteness requires that virtually every producer, large or small, individual or farm, process his own coffee. Fortunately, the region has an almost infinite number of rivers and streams, so a coffee mill can be located nearly anywhere.

Guatemala Huehuetenango really shines as filter coffee or in a French press, and because of its refreshing brightness, it is a component in our Aura Summertime Blend.
